When evaluating a potential idea for production it is essential to do your homework regarding similar projects. You need to know backwards and forwards what else is out there that is similar to your project. It’s very rare to find something that is entirely original.
Why do you need to know? Financiers will want to know how similar projects have done. They’ll want to know that you know your market. Actors will want to know the same thing. Co-producers will do their own research and you need to demonstrate that you are up to speed.
